Down eight points in the first half, on the back of an absolute spanking from Galway, Dublin could have easily quit on first-year manager Ger Cunningham. Instead they dug deep and a Dotsy O’Callaghan goal and a LOT of points from Paul Ryan saw Dublin pip Limerick by 1-17 to 1-16 to advanced to the All-Ireland quarter-final.
After taking so much stick before the game, midfielder Johnny McCaffrey summed up the team’s emotion at the final whistle.
