“Thanks to the hotel for the shower!”
Jack McCaffrey went viral after the 2017 All-Ireland final. The Dublin half-back is doing it all over again.
This time, he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
After last year’s All-Ireland win, McCaffrey gained some fans for his scene-stealing faces and waves in the background during interviews.
This time out, after McCaffrey helped Dublin to another Sam Maguire triumph, the Dubliner was on his best behaviour.
Voted man of the match by The Sunday Game panel, after his excellent performance in Dublin’s six-point win over Tyrone, McCaffrey spoke well about enjoying the success and taking time out to truly appreciate their four-in-a-row drive.
Just as host Michael Lyster was about to present the award, a temporary tent set up inside the Gibson Hotel, chose that moment to overflow. There had apparently been a leak near the broadcast area due to very heavy rains in the capital and the stop-gap solution stopped working at the worst moment.
How Lyster managed to suppress the ‘JESUS’ that was forming on his lips, and carry on with the show, is beyond us.

Lyster and Mccaffrey continued to shake hands for almost 10 seconds as chaos ensued.
What a way for the veteran RTE presenter to sign off. In fairness, he handled it like a pro.
