Limerick are the All-Ireland hurling champions for 2018 after a 45 year wait for their 8th title ended today in Croke Park.
Within those 45 years there has been some devastating losses, including five All-Ireland deciders.
- Kilkenny in 1974, one year after that last win.
- Galway in 1980
- Offaly in 1994
- Clare in 1996
- Kilkenny again in 2007
The Limerick dressing room for those five finals must have been a pretty sombre place, but we are sure that the players and management team are making up for years of hurt right about now.
Here is Liam McCarthy’s arrival into the victorious dressing room

Various players have been Instagramming from inside the dressing room, and it looks as though the celebrations are well under way… not that we are surprised!
Probably Kyle Hayes’ first drink here, we’re sure it won’t be his last this week…
The lad’s are in full flight now…
Showing no signs of stopping…
Liam is in for a wild night by the looks of it…
As expected the players were singing to their hearts content. This video shows the players giving a rousing rendition of ‘Sean South’

The celebrations are in full flow now, and we can’t imagine they are going to end anytime soon.
Good for you lads. Yourselves, and the whole county of Limerick deserve it after 45 years of heartache.
