Naas GAA are doing a U-turn on their decision to appoint former Derry boss Rory Gallagher into a coaching role.
The Leinster Leader have reported that Kildare's four-in-a-row senior football champions will not be hiring Gallagher as part of Joe Murphy's management team.
According to Tommy Callaghan, talks had been held between Murphy and Gallagher, and a decision to hire the latter had been agreed.
Gallagher enjoyed a hugely successful stint as Derry boss, during which he guided them to the 2022 Ulster football title. However, he stepped down ahead of the 2023 Ulster SFC final against Armagh, after allegations of abuse from his estranged wife Nicola.
He has previously been linked a return to Derry.
Despite numerous outlets reporting his imminent arrival at Naas, the club have now decided against these actions.
In September, Gallagher's solicitors said: "Our client fully intends to return to inter-county management in the near future."
