Report: Tipperary panel drop All-Star from panel due to breach of discipline

Huge news in the Premier County

News of Barrett’s removal from the panel broke on Tuesday night.

Cathal Barrett has been dropped from the Tipperary hurling panel, with reports suggesting the removal was down to a breach of discipline on the part of the All-Star defender.

The Tipperary management have yet to confirm the reasons behind the decision, but the Irish Mirror reports that it was made as a result of a breach of discipline by Barret since Tipperary’s Munster Championship defeat to Cork earlier this month.

The 23-year old suffered a knee injury in the defeat to the Rebel County that didn’t turn out to be as bad as had initially been feared after he collapsed to the ground in agony in the latter stages of the contest.

Barrett had been expected to face a spell of approximately six weeks on the sidelines as a result of the injury, but it now looks as he could have played his last game for the All-Ireland champions this season as a result of the decision by Michael Ryan and his management team.
