Tadhg Kennelly could not have picked a worse day to test out players who are hoping to make a career in the AFL.
The former Syndey Swans man and All-Ireland winner with Kerry is running today’s AFL Europe Combine at DCU for around 20 GAA hopefuls, with some of the best young sportsmen in the country hoping to impress the talent scout.
This weekend’s group includes Pat Spillane’s son Pat Jnr,former Kilkenny minor Darragh Joyce, Dublin’s Donal McIlghorm and Westmeath’s Ray Connellan as well as Tipperary’s Aidan Buckley and Cavan’s Thomas Galligan.

On Friday players were put through their paces in various indoor physical tests.

And this afternoon players were given the chance to see how they would handle the ball in weather unknown to AFL
High fielding was a key part of the tests today in what we can only image were almost impossible conditions
It wasn’t all action with the oval ball either as Ray Connellan and James Mealiff got to grips with the more familiar round ball
Thomas Galligan also got a chance to practice his tackling skills on Darrargh Joyce
Some of the other players put through their paces today include
Armagh's Ciaron O'Hanlon at AFL Europe combine. I can see why he was selected for that. Has all the right skills. #GAA
