PIC: What are they feeding the teenage hurlers in Tipperary?

Strapping young buck

Patrick McCarry

Must be getting some extra spuds for his dinner.

There is almost nothing worse than spotting the lad you are supposed to be man-marking, from across the field, and watching a small moon orbit his very being.

The ‘almost’ is when you jog over to him and find your shoulder joint is on a level as his elbow. All attempts to make chit-chat, and befriend the hulking structure, are met with grunts.

‘It’s going to be a long day.’

That must have been what this poor Tipperary hurler felt as he marked this rangy 16-year-old in a club game between Cashel and St Mary’s, in Clonmel, on Sunday.

Let’s hope his teammates shuttled in passes low and hard.

Hat-tip to Darren Burns for the snap.
