Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh's son, Aengus, has revealed a poignant detail from his father's funeral.
The legendary GAA commentator, who died on Tuesday aged 93, was laid to rest today at St Mary's Church in his home town of Dingle in County Kerry.
The funeral procession saw family members pay tribute almost entirely in Irish before he made his final journey to Reilig Naomh Breandan I mBaile an Mhulinn.
Speaking at the funeral, Aengus said: "We've heard some great stories during the week on all of his one-liners that took on a life of their own after matches.
"Pat Fox and Joe Rabbitte...And people remind us of the Anthony Lynch line:
'The Cork corner-back will be the last person to let you down...His people are undertakers.'
"Well, he added a little bit to this one this week.
"Unknown to us, he had made some arrangements with the funeral director Donal O'Connor some years ago.
"He requested that his casket be made by those same Lynchs."
A heartwarming detail that captures the spirit of the man at his poetic and humorous best.
The wry smiles remembered from Ó Muircheartaigh's famous commentary alive again in the heart of the Kingdom.
