It’s actually a waste of time having Joe Canning hit sidelines.
Just give him the point and move on. The Portumna club-man has always been a sideline specialist, delighting crowds with his line-balls since 2005, but in 2020 it has gone beyond a joke.
This year, the man is out there treating line-balls like they are frees in front of the goals, having nailed seven of them in just four Championship games so far this season. Just give him the ball and we’ll move on.
Not many better sights in sport than watching Joe Canning nail a touchline conversion.

The skill itself is a sight to behold and the ease with which Canning fades them over the black spot is something special, indicating the hours of practice he has put in to perfect his art.
Against Limerick in Sunday’s All-Ireland semi-final, Canning put on a stone-cold clinic, slinging over four in the space of 40 minutes.

For Galway, the skill is worth its weight in gold as it kept them in a game which they were otherwise being overpowered in.
