Jim Gavin makes four changes as Dublin name team to play Galway

Jack O'Toole

Dublin manager Jim Gavin has made four changes to the Dublin side that lost to Monaghan in the final round of the National Football League last weekend.

The one-point defeat marked Dublin’s first loss to Monaghan in 12 years, and just Dublin’s second defeat in the last three years, as Fintan Kelly struck a late winner to steal a rare win for the Farney County against the defending All-Ireland champions.

Dublin will now face Galway in Sunday’s Division 1 league decider at Croke Park with Stephen Cluxton, Jonny Cooper, Kevin McManamon and Ciaran Kilkenny all returning to the side in place of Evan Comerford, Darren Daly, Cormac Costello and Paddy Small.

Dublin were beaten in a one-point game in last year’s final by Kerry but won the previous four league titles.

Jim Gavin has had a penchant for changing his team literally minutes before kick-off so the above may only stand as a preliminary team, with further changes possibly being made on Sunday.
