There will be some party in Mullingar tonight.
Westmeath beat Kilkenny in the Leinster U21 championship on Wednesday night in a dramatic encounter in Mullingar.
In a low-scoring game, Westmeath managed to cling onto an early lead thanks to a goal from midfielder Warren Casserly in the 34th minute. However, the crowd were in for a nail-biting finish as a whopping six minutes of extra time were added and the Cats were awarded a penalty in this period.
Remarkably, Kilkenny blasted the penalty wide and Westmeath scored a historic win by 1-11 to 0-12.
