“I’m sorry my voice is gone, but I’m over the moon” – Meath beat brave sligo to secure place in All-Ireland Minor final

“It’s all about the 41 boys on the panel.”

Meath defeat Sligo 2-14 to 2-9, in a thrilling contest that saw Meath take a comfortable lead in the first-half, but Sligo came out determined in the second half.

They managed to make a game of it, with Sligo substitute Jack McGovern finishing with a brilliant goal, five minutes to go to make Meath sweat a little.

However, a goal from substitute John Mannion sealed the deal on their victory and they now march on to the All-Ireland final.

Man of the match Seán Leonard continued this trend of young GAA players sporting long hair, but putting in excellent performances, and followed it up with an excellent interview also.

“I’m over the moon, I’m sorry my voice is gone but I’m over the moon, we’re just so happy.

“Everyone in the panel just had to work hard, there were people on the team who weren’t on the 24, that could have come in and easily put in as much of a shift as anybody else.

“It’s all about the 41 boys on the panel putting the shift in, working as hard as we can, to get to this final, and hopefully win.”
