One of the good things about Sky is that we get to show off how great we are and by Jesus aren’t we just great?
The hurling final came and went and the hurling final was cracking. End to end, massive, massive hits, would-be heroes refusing to fall, serious skill, savage intensity, nerves of absolute steel.
When hurling is played like it was on Sunday in Croke Park, there are very few things like it on this earth.
This is a bloody joke!! https://t.co/2nrkgGZ6bg

If Irish people love one thing though, it is being Irish and what better expression of that Irishness than a clash of the ash between two passionate counties trying desperately to bridge decades of hurt?
So roll up, rest of the world, come see what you’re missing.
And roll up, they did. Drool, they did. Wince, they did. From renowned journalists to professional sportsmen, Galway v Waterford in The Battle For Liam was their first experience of hurling and what an experience it must’ve been.
Their reactions were nothing we haven’t seen before but it wouldn’t be like us to skim over praise for the Irish. Besides, the reactions to the reactions were even better.
They’re not used to the obligatory sub shoulder.
Just turned sky sports on & hurling final is on #wtf on comes the sub #getinvolvedearly pic.twitter.com/v9eXWgC1wb

Oliver Kay from The Times in England was absorbed and confused.
Just watched the all-Ireland hurling final (on TV). Never sure if I completely understand it, but what a brutal, brilliant sport.

But does he know that those lads don’t get paid?
All done for the love of the game. No money, no contracts, no agents, just pride. All players back to the day job's next week.

Does he know there’s another final in two weeks?

And does he know that those lads don’t get paid?
Amateur and unpaid…puts footballers to shame

Can never see the ball in Hurling, even in HD…much prefer Gaelic football

Do they not know that those lads don’t get paid?
Fellas playing in front of 80000 on a Sunday and working in schools, banks and building sites on a Monday.
— Cian Geary (@ciangeary) September 3, 2017
And an amateur sport too, Oli. Their commitment is astonishing.

There’s always one there to take an opportunistic swipe.

Northamptonshire’s finest was impressed with the carnage.

Like rhinos.
The Hurling is good init. I like that they just randomly barge into each other in breaks of play. Like rhinos
