Huge weekend ahead of GAA on TV to ease your January blues

Lee Costello

January just got a whole lot better.

There’s no ‘easing in’ period when it comes to the GAA this season, as 2022 kicks off on our televisions with three exciting games.

You wait all year to see a club county final, so how lucky are we to start the new year straight away with three provincial finals?

First up, the Dublin champions Kilmacud Crokes are going toe to toe with every neutral’s favourite team, the Kildare kingpins, Naas.

Crokes survived a scare against Portarlington in what might have been the most entertaining game of football seen all year, while Naas displayed a dogged spirit in a thriller against Shelmaliers.

Moving on to Sunday, Mayo champs Knockmore have it all to do against Padraig Pearses from Roscommon in the Connacht senior club football final.

Then there is a big game with the ‘wee ball,’ as the all-conquering Ballygunner come up against Limerick’s Kilmallock in the Munster senior club hurling final.

Suddenly the temptation to sit in and finish Dry January doesn’t seem too bad, huh?
