Heartwarming picture of underage GAA teams in Derry playing under stunning sunset

Playing until dark

Kevin McGillicuddy

We’ve all done it.

You hear your mam shout ‘come in’  but you’re with your friends and so long as there is a tiny glimmer of light still in the sky you will keep going playing football or hurling or kicking what ever you can.

So we know exactly why these GAA clubs in Derry are still playing in near darkness this evening.

The change of time might be a month away and the evenings are drawing in, but that was never going to stop Derry Pearses and Doire Colmcille tonight in action in the Evermore Energy Under-13 B at Slaugmanus.

The game ended at around 8pm tonight with Doire Colmcille claiming the win with a 3-8 to 3-5 scoreline.

But we’re sure that if the match kept going the kids would still be out there chasing the ball and enjoying their sport.
