Honestly though, how stupid could FIFA have been?
The World Cup final usually attracts a global audience of over a billion viewers but, next Sunday, the football showpiece is going to go head-to-head with the real football showpiece, Galway v Kerry.
The GAA must not have realised the kick-off time for the World Cup final was at 4pm on Sunday and, then, after making the decision to throw the best round one Super 8 game on at the exact same, you can only presume that they had suffered enough backlashes recently to want to admit it was a mistake.
So, at 4pm on Sunday 15 July, the World Cup final is set to clash with the biggest Gaelic football match of the season so far.
The two front-runners to contest the Dublin throne lock horns at Croke Park and what have FIFA done about it? Absolutely fuck all.
Gianni Infantino has a set of brass balls on him as the FIFA president stands his ground and refuses to move the decider in Moscow which will be contested by France/Belgium against England/Sweden/Croatia/Russia.
So Galway have taken matters into their own hands.
Rather than try to reason with the GAA, they must’ve realised that their best shot was to go the FIFA route and request that the World Cup final gets put back to 6pm.
“If this clash is not addressed by FIFA, then your worldwide audience will be diminished,” Galway secretary Seán Ó hEidhín put it perfectly.
“Many of supporters will give priority to attending and watching the Galway v Kerry game.”

Your move, FIFA.
