These are the four young players that could make a huge impact for Dublin next year

Can they get even better?

It’d be scary if they improved.

Have Dublin peaked? When you can seemingly afford to have Bernard Brogan and Diarmuid Connolly sitting on your bench in the All-Ireland Final you would struggle to see them getting any better.

It’s scary to think how good they are with them lads sitting on the bench and then they are the current Under 21 All-Ireland Champions for good measures.

Not bad.

There’s no questioning that Dublin’s production line isn’t in the worst state given their recent successes but you always want to pinpoint what star is next.

Cian O’Sullivan took time out of his All-Ireland celebrations to launch the #AllIrelandSmiles campaign for Sensodyne and Corsodyl and highlighted some of the younger players coming through with one man, in particular, making a serious impression on the Kilmacud Crokes man:

“There’s so much competition, especially in the forwards we have some really good underage guys coming through over the last couple of years,” O’Sullivan said.

Cormac Costello didn’t get a good run out this year, he’s been there the last couple of years now but he’s an incredible talent, a fantastic player and a guy that I definitely can see being a big player for Dublin over the next couple of years and getting longer game time.

“We’ve seen glimpses of what he can do, last year he came on in the final and kicked three points in the space of 10 or 15 minutes so that’s what he’s capable of and he’s just an incredible talent. and he’s been earmarked as that since minor days and up through Under 21 but it’s just little niggly injuries, like when you’re trying to break into a team and you’re competing for places against the likes of Bernard Brogan or Diarmuid Connolly it’s going to be hard to nail your hands down on a jersey and you really need to be out and be training for every training session and put your name into the hat as much as you possibly can but just with the little niggly injuries he has picked up he hasn’t been able to do that unfortunately but I can definitely see this guy having a big impact and a big role for Dublin in years to come.

Colm Basquel as well had a couple of niggly injuries from the under 21 campaign, when you are coming onto the team you need to be firing on all cylinders for every training session especially when you’re trying to break into a position and unluckily for him he didn’t get that break and didn’t get that couple of weeks where he could really go hammer and thongs.

Conor Mullaly as well showed really well at training, Evan Comerford as well, he was our sub goalkeeper and seems to have his head screwed on tightly and very very good goalkeeper,” O’Sullivan concluded.

Cormac Costello is the son of Dublin GAA CEO John and the pair have been incredibly successful with the Whitehall Colmcille man making headlines after coming off the bench to help Dublin overcome Mayo in last year’s replay but injuries in 2017 prevented him from breaking into the starting lineup.

Dublin’s Cian O’Sullivan and Kerry’s Paul Geaney were on hand today to launch the #AllIrelandSmiles campaign for Sensodyne and Corsodyl.

With October being the smiliest month of the year, Sensodyne and Corsodyl have teamed up to find out which county is the smiliest county in Ireland and to offer one lucky participant a chance to win €5,000. To enter, participants have to upload a selfie showing off their smile to social media using #AllIrelandSmiles and tell us what they love about their county and why.
