Fantasy Hurling and Gaelic Football are here for the Championship

Niall McIntyre

About time.

The folks at Dungannon Eoghan Ruadh Hurling club brought an added dimension to the 2018 National League when they introduced Fantasy Hurling to the GAA. That was hurling’s equivalent of Fantasy Premier League which has grown and grown over the last few years all over the world.

The Tyrone club have now created a Fantasy Hurling and Gaelic Football for the Championship this year. It will be just like Fantasy Premier League, with mini Leagues, overall competitions and so on.

You can pick your team for the hurling right here and the football here.
Here are the rules for the game.

Rules

  • Each player picks a team of 15 players, and a manager to start off. You are permitted a maximum of two players from each county during the early stages of the competition. During the latter stages, this will increase to 3/4 players.
  • One player from your team must be nominated as your captain.
  • There will be five Transfer Windows at various stages throughout the Championship, detailed on the site here. Each competitor will have two free transfers in each window.
  • Registration fees Adults £10/€10 Juniors £5/€5, this must be paid in full before the closing date, or your team will not be entered.
  • Blood substitutes will not score any points for any appearances unless they feature as official substitute.
  • If players end up on same points, the winner will be determined by a count back. Count back will be the highest single round score for the final, then the Semi final and so on…
  • A member of your team must be nominated as captain. Your captain will score double the number of points (+ or -) he would usually have been awarded for any game played in. If you fail to nominate a captain you will not be awarded double points.
  • The organiser reserves the right to reject team names considered to be offensive or inappropriate.

Some famous names all over the country are joining the fun.
