Two nights in hospital after incident

Disgusting

People who think the days of a sly dirty dig off the ball in GAA are no more should spare a thought for Dublin’s Davey Byrne.

It’s reported in today’s Herald that the player spent two days in hospital after suffering serious facial injuries in a challenge game with Armagh last week behind closed doors.

It’s believed the Ballymun Kickhams man was hit even before the throw-in, and was taken to hospital with a suspected fractured eye socket and a broken nose as well as other injuries.

Byrne was taken immediately to Beaumont Hospital where he was kept for two nights before being released.

He will now miss Sunday’s Leinster football final with Westmeath.
