Imagine the conversation in Bundoran this week.
– Can you drop that prize up to the Tubuchi family?
– Where are they at, the top of the road?
– No, Hawaii…
GAA club lottos are a wonderful thing. They’re the lifeblood of a parish’s fundraising efforts, and selling raffle tickets is what really makes some of the good folk in your club come alive.
It’s also a chance to offload some livestock…
Or heifers…
But it’s lucky for Bundoran in Donegal that they didn’t have to deliver any farm animals for their latest club lotto because it would’ve been some effort to get it across the Atlantic.
It must’ve been a big push – as per usual – from the Bundoran GAA gaels to offload tickets this week because three 50 euro prizes are headed outside of Donegal. And one just so happens to be en route to Hawaii.

As reported by Donegal Sport Hub, the south Donegal club had a winner in Leitrim and a winner in Fermanagh for matching three numbers in the club lotto but a third 50 euro prize was won by Candace Tubuchi from Kauai County in Hawaii. Or shout that be County Kauai?
There were a group of Hawaiian students staying in Bundoran as part of the Institute of Study and the ticket was sold to Tubuchi in the Aparthotel in the town. This will be some journey to drop this off to the the winner.
Let’s hope it brings her as much luck as these GAA lottos can do.
