The anticipation is nearly over, it’s nearly business time for college freshers’ teams.
Going to college is the equivalent of starting a new world. You move away from home for probably the first time in your life. You have to fend for yourself, be it through cooking and cleaning and just general decision making in life.
There are so many opportunities ahead of you, avenues to be explored, and choices to make.
For sporty folk, one of the most exciting things about going to college is the chance to play on a new team, to have coaches that you never had before, to have teammates that you’ve never played with before.
The college year began in some colleges last week, and the week before in others, and you can be guaranteed that hordes of first years already have their college GAA set-up sussed out.
Freshers’ teams all over the country are meeting up for the first time, and the build-up is getting started for that first away league game, which will be followed by an almighty drinking session, that will bond them all together, all 17 of them.
One college that is certainly ready for their influx of fresh blood, is DCU, who have gaelic footballs, big cones, small cones, water bottles, bibs, more footballs and gear bags ready for road in their sports complex.
Get out there and play freshers, you won’t regret it.
