Imagine a show like Monday Night Football for Gaelic Games in Ireland. You wouldn’t have the match to show but, most of the time, the Premier League match is just a distraction from that show anyway. The best of it is when intelligent, considered guests pick the bones from the talking points of the weekend and have it out live on TV. No interruptions, no lip service and no trying to move the show quickly along.
Club championship is the bread and butter of Irish society. Everyone has an interest in it, everyone is affected by it.
They get that in Derry.
The county launched Oakleaf Television last summer, dedicated to the coverage of Gaelic Games in Derry, and it has naturally been a roaring success.

Hurling championship.
They’re covering it in Derry.
Games are streamed on their Dartfish channel and, with a packed championship schedule which often sees Gaels trek around the county for four games in one day, natives can catch what is happening all over at any time.
Now, they’ve taken to another level again with the introduction of DroneView highlights from matches. The Greenlough and Magherafelt senior football championship clash debuted the drone highlights and really provided a fascinating perspective.
Every county needs to get on board with this sort of dedicated coverage.
