They don’t do things by half measures in Burren.

The club are holding their very own Oscar-style ceremony and they’re going all out giving it the Hollywood theme.

From the life-sized Hollywood sign lit up at night overlooking the GAA pitch, claiming to lay a new footpath for the club’s Hall of Fame, to the Homes of the Stars tour that’s being planned in the area, you’d nearly think you’re in California. If it wasn’t for all the rain. And the GAA pitches. And the accents.

But think about this – you could actually get the chance to see where the likes of Kevin McKernan and Donal O’Hare spend their everyday lives.

It’s all building up to April 30 when Burren Goes To The Oskars.

Fed up with the Strictly events and whatnot now, the Down club have come up with a very unique fundraiser set for the Carrickdale and they’re generating some serious buzz around the area ahead of it.

No less with a new and improved version of Hollywood Hills. Ladies and gentlemen, Bullock Hill.

The sign took the guts of five hours to put in place – never mind make – and then the lights cost another few hours again.

But sure look at the results.

As the event draws nearer, all the big guns are arriving in town.

But now the locals don’t know what to believe anymore after an April Fools’ prank had some genuinely thinking that the parish was set for its very own boulevard.

This is how you do a fundraiser though. Fair play.
