Limerick scraped past Clare at Croke Park this evening, 1-21 to 1-19, after a late goal from Aidan O'Connor brought them back from two points down.
However, the Banner men will feel aggrieved over a decision in the 56th minute, which saw Clare awarded a penalty after Peter Duggan was taken out by goalkeeper Nicky Quaid while he was through on goal.
A black card seemed inevitable, but the referee felt that a yellow was the correct call, arguing that Duggan was not in possession of the sliotar when fouled.
Tony Kelly dispatched the subsequent penalty, but Clare can certainly feel hard done by that the punishment was not more severe.
