Allianz League finals: All the action and talking points

Niall McIntyre

It’s League final final weekend.

The All-Western division One final inevitably takes centre stage, when Mayo take on their neighbours and old rivals Galway. But from Division One right back to Division Four, there are four belters of games in store.

Keep up to date with all the action in our live-blog below.

The Division One showpiece has been dampened somewhat by the fact that Mayo are out next weeekend in the first round of the Connacht championship.

Mayo had asked to play the final on Saturday as a result, so as to give themselves an extra day of recovery but this request was denied.

Questions have inevitably been asked, and will persist, as to whether Mayo can really target this game as a result, but only time will tell. On the other hand, Padraic Joyce has made no secret of his desire to win silverware.

In Division Two, Dublin will be looking to gain revenge on Derry following their one point loss to Rory Gallagher’s side in the group stages.

In Division Three, it’s a similar situation as Cavan look to turn the tables on Fermanagh, who beat them on the group stages while the Division Four decider is arguably the story of the weekend.

With Sligo taking on Wicklow, the game will see Crossmaglen legends Oisin McConville and Tony McEntee in opposite dug-outs. The game has been dubbed ‘the Crossmaglen final.’
