Hamilton was highly emotional after winning at Silverstone.

Lewis Hamilton has won at Silverstone after a race-long battle with Max Verstappen and Lando Norris to get his first victory since 2021.

After a fantastic race, Hamilton had just enough to hold off a last minute charge from Verstappen to secure his 104th career win.

Verstappen struggled for pace through much of the race which was plagued by two periods of heavy rain.

In the closing laps, Verstappen closed the gap and went into the second place after taking over Norris who finished third.

Hamilton was highly emotional following the race and was in tears as he left his car.

He told his team, as they congratulated him over the radio: “This means so much to me.”

Speaking to Sky Sports after the race, an emotional Hamilton said: “It’s been since 2021, every day I’ve been getting up and trying to fight and train.

“This is my last race here with this team and I wanted to win for them because I love them.

“I’m forever grateful for everyone at Mercedes. You’ve got to continue to fight even when you feel like you’re at the bottom of the barrel.

“There’s been times between now and 2021 that I haven’t felt like I’m good enough.”

What a win.
