May he rest in peace.

Dublin-born Formula One legend Eddie Jordan has died at the age of 76.

The former F1 team owner and television pundit passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning.

He had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of bladder and prostate cancer last year.

In a statement, his family said: “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eddie Jordan OBE the ex-Formula 1 team owner, TV pundit and entrepreneur.

“He passed away peacefully with family by his side in Cape Town in the early hours of 20th March 2025 at the age of 76, after battling with an aggressive form of prostate cancer for the past 12 months.

“He was working until the last, having communicated on St Patrick’s Day, about his ambitions for London Irish Rugby Football Club, of which he had recently become Patron.”

Jordan opened up about his cancer diagnosis last year on his Formula For Success podcast with David Coulthard. He revealed that he was ‘coming out the other side’ and implored men not to be shy and to get checked as soon as possible.

Jordan had a stint as a racing driver in the 1970s before setting up Eddie Jordan Racing in the 1980s and competing in the British Formula Three championship.

He moved on to Jordan Grand Prix, who competed in Formula One from 1991 to 2005, when it was sold.

During that time it had four wins and in 1999 they finished third in the constructor’s standings, with Heinz-Harald Frentzen finishing third in the driver’s standings.

Seven-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher made his debut with Jordan at the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix, in a one-off ride for the team. Other notable drivers included Ruben Barrichello, Giancarlo Fisichella, Eddie Irvine, and Ralf Schumacher.
