Further proof, if any was needed, that Zlatan Ibrahimovic was never joining Leicester City.

The Swedish captain, who has announced he will play for Manchester United next season, was speaking with the Guardian in a wide-ranging interview, and the topic of English clubs came up.

Ibrahimovic, despite having no shortage of suitors, held off from announcing his move from Paris Saint-Germain until his contract with the club expired. expired at the end of last season.

Back in early June, the 34-year-old had been non-committal about possible moves to Liverpool, Arsenal and a club in Manchester, but outright dismissed any hope he’d be interested in joining the league champions.

“Pah, Leicester had their time,” Ibrahimovic replied when asked about moving to the Foxes.

“Will it [Leicester winning the league] happen again? It is not easy.”

The forward said last weekend that he would make a big announcement about his future on June 7, but the announcement turned out to be him launching a fashion line, rather than confirming he’s set to link up with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

When asked about the potential move to United, Zlatan said:

“There is no confirmation. No saying ‘yes’. You will have to be patient with me.”

“I want you to keep wondering where I will go, keep making stories, because I enjoy while the stories go out. When I feel tired I will let you know where my next destination is.”

He must have tired as the announcement arrived shortly after 4pm on June 30.
