He is itching for a return.

Just three months after stepping down as Real Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane is keen to return to coaching.

The Frenchman won three consecutive Champions League titles with Real Madrid in just two and a half seasons, in his first managerial job.

Despite setting unprecedentedly high standards for himself, he has revealed that he will definitely return to the field ‘before long’.

“I am sure that I will coach again before long,” he told TVE as he attended a match his young son Elyaz was playing in.

“This is what I like and what I have done all my life.”

He has been linked to Manchester United, after reports revealed that he was keen on the job and has recently compiled a list of transfer targets that he would want to bring to the club. That list includes Toni Kroos, who was a key part of Madrid winning their latest two Champions League trophies.

With the pressure on Jose Mourinho to improve results at Old Trafford growing every day, we could see Zidane back in management sooner than expected if the Portuguese coach leaves before the end of the season.
