Now that the Jack Grealish saga seems to be drawing to a close, let’s get another English-born-player-could-declare-for-Ireland story going.
Grealish’s international future is set to be decided in the coming month and while reports in Britain claim that England will win out, Grealish’s father denies that his son’s mind has been definitively made up just yet.
But, away from the Aston Villa winger, another prodigious young talent could be on his way into the Ireland set-up as The Irish Times report that Arsenal midfielder Dan Crowley is set to bring his skills to the Republic.
Crowley, 18, was born in Coventry but is eligible for Ireland as his grandparents hail from Waterford.
The teenager, who is currently on loan at League One’s Barnsley, has been tipped for big things by Jack Wilshere in the past and has represented Ireland at under-15 level before featuring for England at under-19 level.

But, according to reports, Crowley is set to swap his international allegiances once more by moving to Noel King’s Ireland under-21 squad ahead of their European Championship qualifiers.
Not only are Crowley and Grealish in similar situations insofar as they’re both creative youngsters with Ireland and England vying for the pair, but they’re also buddies.

*Our sources on the street tell us “bro” is short for “brother” but we can’t definitively confirm that.
