Unstoppable
Real Madrid may have lost the La Liga title to hated rivals Barcelona last night, but there was at least some personal satisfaction for Cristiano Ronaldo to reflect on as he scored a hat-trick in the 4-1 win over Espanyol to overtake Alfredo di Stefano in the club’s all-time scoring charts.
The Portuguese moved ahead of the Real great, who found the net 308 times for the club, and at 310 goals he now sits just 13 behind Spain hero Raul in the top spot, a figure he is certain to reach next season assuming nothing dramatic happens this summer.
Ronaldo’s remarkable strike-rate puts both legends in the shade, with his tally coming from just 299 games compared with 396 for Di Stefano and 741 for Raul.
