Stephanie Roche’s superb goal for Peamount United against Wexford has beaten off some of the biggest names in the world of football to make the final three shortlist for FIFA’s goal of the year gong, the Puskas Award.
The Irish international’s goal will now battle against James Rodriguez’s World Cup stunner for Colombia v Uruguay and RVP’s header against Spain for the honour being voted the best goal of the last 12 months.
It is a phenomenal achievement for Roche, who becomes the first women to make the final three.
