If John Terry was having any doubts about leaving Chelsea, maybe he should give some club in China a bell.
Deadline day in these parts was pretty crap, but last night a one-time Arsenal and Liverpool transfer target decided his future lies in China, just six months after joining Atletico Madrid.
Jackson Martinez hasn’t enjoyed the best of times in La Liga since his switch to Diego Simeone’s side, but we hardly thought he’d be shipped out of the club so quickly.
And especially to China for a very tidy profit.

Jackson Martinez off to a Chinese club? Shame. Another very good player chases the money to play for an unknown league. Career over.

The deal to move from Spain to Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande was for an estimated €45million, which is a record fee for the Chinese league, and eclipses his move from Porto to Atletico last summer by around €10million.
His move also follows switches for Chelsea midfielder Ramires, who had set the previous record at over €30million just last month, and Serie A duo Gervinho and Fredy Guarin.
And now according to this morning’s Telegraph, it seems that Yaya Toure could be swept along in the current taking players to China as his time at Manchester City runs out.
The midfielder is likely to leave the Eithad this summer, and according to the newspaper this morning, he is to be offered over €40million a year in wages to hitch his wagon to a Chinese superclub.
The move would see Toure become the third richest player in world football, after Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 32-year does have a year left on his contract at the Etihad and considering the amount of money clubs in China have already spent in 2016 – over €100million – incoming manager Pep Guardiola could see his summer war-chest of cash increased significantly if they club decides to sell.
