Yann M’Vila thought he was moving to Sunderland today.
But it didn’t quite work out that way.
The French midfielder spent last season on loan with the Black Cats and had hoped to seal a permanent switch to the club today.
But as the transfer window shut at 11pm, he apparently put out this message on his Instagram account: “I called Sunderland but they are not picking up the phone, why? My heart has broken.”

Now, Sunderland is a lovely club. They’ve got that big ground up there on Wearside, they wear those nice red and white stripes and they always only *just* avoid relegation every season.
But – and we say this with the greatest respect – would it really break your heart if a move to the club fell through?
It appears so for poor old Yann. Though, with the image no longer visible on his Instagram it is possible we’ve been had (though we should point out that, if this is the case, so have Sky Sports News and many others).
So with the window closed it seems like he is stuck with his current club, the Russian side Rubin Kazan.
Given that for two of the three years he has been on their books he has been out on loan, that might not sit too well with him, which would explain his heart ache.
Poor old Yann. Maybe they’re just not that into you?
