After flattering to deceive in the group stages, Xherdan Shaqiri woke up in some style on Saturday.
Switzerland bombarded Lukasz Fabianski in the second half of their round of 16 clash with Poland and it paid off with less than ten minutes remaining.
It required some ludicrous athleticism from Fabianski to keep out a Swiss free-kick midway through the half and the Polish bar came to the rescue moments later.
But it took a moment of Shaqiri brilliance to cancel out Jakub Blaszczykowski’s first half strike.
As the clock struck 82 minutes and a ball into the box was only cleared as far as the edge of the 18-yard area, Shaqiri took to the air and connected perfectly, artfully, brilliantly.
Roger Federer was quite impressed.
Wow!!!!! ⚽️🇨🇭
