The action all kicked up a notch on Tuesday, with Saudi Arabia’s 2-1 victory over Argentina arguably one of the biggest shocks in World Cup history. Elsewhere, the French may be depleted, minues the likes of Benzema, Pogba and Kante but they are the reigning champions and they showed in their 4-1 destruction of Australia that they still have plenty of class.
Kylian Mbappe turned on the style for them with a scintillating second half display while Olivier Giroud showed his longevity once more. The 36-year-old scored his 50th and 51st goals for his country in what is his third World Cup campaign.
Elsewhere, Denmark and Tunisia drew as did Mexico and Poland. There were no goals in those clashes so let’s hope for some more today.
