10/10 for imagination. 10/10 for execution.
Everyone loves an elaborate free-kick routine, even when they don’t work out. Just ask Ze Germans…

However, the Notts County women’s team have come up with their own fancy scheme for the set-piece, and it worked to absolute perfection.
Positioning two players in front of the ball, the would-be free taker stops half way through her run up, before turning back in an apparent huff.
The player stage right of the ball then plays a short little pass to her left, before the other player, Ellen White, turns sharply, shooting into the bottom corner.
It all looks a little too perfect to be off the cuff, doesn’t it?
