We get it, when you join a new club there are certain things you have to say.
No teams’ fans want to see someone arrive at their club and declare “I have no idea who this team is but they shoved a lot of money in my face and no one else would hire me, so here I am”, but that doesn’t mean that they’re going to believe any old praise that’s shovelled out during a new signing’s first press conference.
Walter Zenga clearly didn’t get the memo as he made some pretty outlandish claims during his unveiling as Wolves manager.
Fans of the Championship might be forgiven for not knowing too much about the Italian’s managerial record, as he has managed 16 different clubs in 18 years – including some time with Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr in 2010 before he moved on to Al-Nasr in Dubai a year later.
But Zenga knows all about Wolves, as he apparently has been a long-time admirer of the club he describes as being the team Italians aspire to be like.
When asked why he joined the West Midlands club, he replied:

For some reason, though, not everyone bought the former goalkeeper’s assessment of the English game.
