Another bad day for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said it was almost embarrassing for his team to walk off at Old Trafford after their defeat to Cardiff on Sunday while witnessing the devotion and loyalty of Manchester United’s supporters.
Most Manchester United supporters are desperate to see the squad overhauled and the players who have left the club down moved on. They could all name the culprits as they see it and there are many who believe that no manager could do any better with this bunch.
The scenes after Sunday’s game at Old Trafford with footage emerging of supporters giving Paul Pogba a hard time underlined the divisions at the club.
But is it time for Manchester United to get ruthless and admit that there’s no future for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer either?
On The Football Spin, Dion Fanning says Ed Woodward needs to get ruthless now, admit he made a mistake in appointing Solskjaer and see if Mauricio Pochettino can be persuaded to join the club, even if that might have more to do with persuading Daniel Levy with a huge amount of money.
Otherwise he says United are going to waste another season.
“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should be fired as Manchester United manager. There is no advantage to keeping Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as United manager. It’s the definition of a waste of time because they are going to sack him very soon, so they might as well get it over with. If they don’t do it now, they’re going to do it in the season to come. The defence of Solskjaer now seems to be ‘what do you expect with this group of players?’ Well, why give yourself one more disadvantage? He clearly isn’t the manager you need when you’ve got to turn over a dressing room, get a new bunch of players in, impose a philosophy and a style of play on that team and create a winning culture. He can’t do that. Why waste time?'”
Fanning says the time has come for United to step out of the theme park they’re trapped in and get ruthless if they are to challenge City and Liverpool.
