Gary Lineker couldn’t have known. None of us could have.
Leicester beat the champions Chelsea 2-1 on that fateful December day and their number one fan and England legend, Gary Lineker, got carried away with himself.
If Leicester win the league, he wagered, Match of the Day will be called by the presenter in his underwear next season. It was a safe enough bet. 5,000/1 some people would’ve given you earlier on.
Three games to go though and Gary Lineker must be bricking it in his pants – much like he did against Ireland in 1990 and his Twitter followers refuse to let him forget.
After Tony Pulis ruined everyone’s title run-in buzz on Monday night with a draw at White Hart Lane, Leicester are one result from winning the league.
And it’s all because of West Brom.
