Republic of Ireland international Wes Hoolahan will go on trial at League Two club Cambridge United.
The 37-year-old’s contract with West Bromwich Albion expired this summer and the former Norwich City midfielder will now train with Cambridge while he considers an offer from the club.
Hoolahan will link back up with former Canaries assistant Colin Calderwood, who is now the head coach at Cambridge, and the United boss would now like to bring the Dubliner to the club if he can convince him to sign.
“The intention would be to convince him to sign,” Calderwoodtold Cambridgeshire Live..
“It’s his experience of coming from higher levels and the Premier League and international football, that’s the attraction to me and it I want to have that around the environment.
“It’s a terrific name for us but only if everything falls into place a little bit, but I’m hoping that they do.”
Hoolahan will join up with the United first team squad when the U’s return for pre-season on Monday (24th June), whilst he also considers an offer from the Football Club.
