The internet can be a dangerous place.
There can be all sorts of rumours and untruths floating around.
But lucky for you we’re calling total and utter horse manure on something that has the internet, and Twitter, ablaze tonight.
Louis van Gaal saw his Manchester United side lose to Sothampton on Saturday afternoon 1-0, and it seemed that the knives are out for the Dutchman once again.
It had been rumoured that he was close to leaving the job in December, but after a brief upturn in fortunes, and scoring four goals in a blistering 180 minutes, the club looked to be back on track.
Until yesterday that was, and lots and lots of anger again at how poor the home side at Old Trafford were.
Sounds like a revolt now, please stop this nonsense. This United team is pathetic. #Mufc #LVG #LVGOUT

Van Gaal is under contract until 2017, and he’s so bloody stubborn we doubt he’s going to leave voluntarily.
Which made this tweet from a seeming BEin Sport Viewer all the more unusual tonight.

Lots of retweets and lots of commentary, and somehope that it might be true for long suffering Manchester United fans.
Amen"@JT1878: Ruud Gullit co-commentating on Arsenal vs Chelsea just said that he’s heard that Van Gaal will resign in next 24 hours"

But some fans thought they smelled a rat

@JT1878 why be such a wum?

While some fans even felt the need to check with Richard Keyes to see if it was true.
@richardajkeys Hi Richard. Did Ruud Gullit really say that he's heard that LVG is to resign tomorrow on your broadcast during Ars and Chels?

As of now no-one else has reported it, so we’re calling it nonsense. Oh and Gullit is on Match of The Day later and looks like he watched the game today at the BBC too.
Later on #bbcmotd2 and looking forward to it https://t.co/GfS7pMO9LN

Which for most Manchester United fans, is probably very unfortunate.
