Same shit, different season.
Being an Arsenal fan is a tough job. You’re stuck in that not-so-sweet spot right between actually winning things and not being expected to win things.
Year on year, the Gunners seem to run into the same problems, as the lack of depth in the squad is exposed at earlier stages each season.
This time around, Arsenal came into the opening game of the season without their three preferred centre-backs as well as their number one striker, with fans having spent the entire summer pleading with Arsene Wenger to strengthen in both areas.
Although they took the lead against Liverpool in their home opener on Sunday afternoon, things quickly turned as the away side banged in four goals in a short space of time to leave the Gunners chasing the game before goals from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Calum Chambers made things interesting again. They still lost – of course they did.
And so the inevitable march of the #WengerOut brigade began before the first game was even over.
In fact, it began even before kick off.

And things got worse when Theo Walcott missed an early penalty.
Wish my ex gave me as many chances as Wenger gives to Walcott. #hahaha

#arsenal wenger needs to go,Walcott taking a penalty? Lol should not even be playing he's lost the plot,

Of all the things Arsene Wenger deserves the sack for, letting Theo Walcott take a penalty is the most valid.

But even when Walcott made amends with the opening goal of the game, Gooners weren’t pleased.
The sad part is, you know Wenger is going to ignore the penalty miss and use Walcott scoring as justification for not signing a striker.

Arsenal fans, you do realise with every goal that Theo Walcott scores, Arsène Wenger won’t see the need for a new striker. Fun and games!

And then they started to turn on their captain for the day, Petr Cech, despite the fact he was being shielded by two inexperienced centre-backs.

Petr Cech has been useless since we bought him una.
— Mikasa's husband (@ItsMrZachary) August 14, 2016
Cech is so overrated. No improvement over the perfectly adequate Ospina at all.
— _ (@TheGoonerAFC) August 14, 2016
But there were those who knew who to blame – Wenger for sticking Cech with the inexperienced pair.
It's just a shame that Arsene Wenger would humiliate Petr Cech this way by playing neophytes in front of him rather than buying experience!

And by the time the fourth had gone in, they knew what they wanted.
When I die I want Arsene Wenger at my funeral so he can let me down one last time.

Wenger should do the honourable thing and walk today there is still time to save the season #wengerout #afc
— Døvid G (@Greatgooner) August 14, 2016
For some, it was a bad thing that the Gunners managed to pull two goals back and close the gap.

This score line is too decent. Stupid Liverpool beat us thoroughly. Not this nonsense. #wengerout
