Wembley pitch will be in horrendous state for Tottenham’s game against Man City after NFL match

Pochettino and Guardiola will be looking to exploit the wings on Monday night.

Tottenham Hotspur face Manchester City on Monday night in a hotly anticipated fixture between two of the best footballing sides in the Premier League.

However, both sides will be faced with the challenge of playing on a pitch that took a battering during the NFL match between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

Originally, both of these matches were scheduled to take place at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but setbacks to its opening meant that both had to be moved to Wembley.

Spurs’ new ground will have a retractable NFL pitch to avoid this situation, a luxury that Wembley does not provide.

As a result, Spurs and Man City players will have to make do with a cut up, uneven pitch on Monday night.

Not only that, but some remains of the NFL pitch markings may still be visible, including the NFL logo in the middle of the pitch.

Groundsmen have begun work on doing their best to repair it in time for the Premier League match, but there is only so much they can do – they are not magicians.
