Hands up, we may very well be responsible for a false result in what we sure the kind folk at Uefa were hoping to be a fair fight.
But if there is anything Irish people love more than Chocolate Kimberleys for breakfast on Stephen’s Day, it’s hijacking an end of year, end of decade, or end of century poll.
Who could forget Ronnie O’Brien inclusion in the Time Person of the Century in 1999, or how we managed to get the Wolfe Tones to the top of a BBC poll to find the world’s most loved song with their version of ‘A Nation Once Again’.
And now it seems that Irish football fans are about to majorly skew the result of a poll being run by the Uefa Champions League Twitter account today.
It all seems innocent enough as they are asking for football fans to vote for the biggest shock result of the year.
And of course Ireland’s win over Germany is included.

There has been loads of votes cast already, but as of this afternoon, there is only one winner so far.

And we may very well be responsible for the result.
Lads, quick, here's a poll we can hijack to make sure Shane Long gets proper praise. #whoputtheballinthegermannet https://t.co/nPaIoHbEfJ

No word of a prize yet, but we hope it’s a big bloody glass vase or something.
Sound lads. A job well done.
Don’t forget: vote early and vote often.
