Spare a thought for poor Stephen Quinn today, he hasn’t had the greatest of mornings.
The red-headed midfielder was left red-faced during the Republic of Ireland’s training session in Lille ahead of their crunch Euro 2016 Group E clash against Italy on Wednesday night.
The FAI shared a short clip of the training session on Tuesday morning, showcasing a couple of embarrassing incidents involving Quinn, one of which looked very painful.

Firstly, he was nutmegged by Shane Long during a passing drill. The striker could probably give him some slagging over it, but in the grand scheme of things, it isn’t too bad. It happens.
It’s just unfortunate that this preceded Quinn taking a shot to the family jewels during the drill courtesy of Glenn Whelan. The combination of being nutmegged and then having the ball connect straight with “Foster” and “Allen” (suggested name, take it or leave it) encouraged one wise-cracker who runs the FAI’s social media to use the caption, “Nuts and nuts”.
That’s just plain cruel.
Hans Moleman has nothing on him!
