The respect of his peers.
The Derry City captain died on Sunday night at the age of just 27.
All of Irish football remains in mourning after the death of the Derry City captain Ryan McBride on Sunday night at the age of 27, and RTÉ’s Soccer Republic featured a fitting tribute to the man on Monday night.
Dave Robertson, the Sligo Rovers manager, describes McBride as, “a competitor, a leader, a fantastic captain and a League of Ireland legend” in one of a number of moving tributes.
The sense you get is of a fine, uncompromising footballer but an even better person who will be so sadly missed by his former team-mates, fans and coaches alike.
