What a disaster.
Remember those classic wrestling “don’t try this at home” public service announcements? Yeah, maybe Real Madrid ought to think about running one of those during half-time of some of their games, particularly when Cristiano Ronaldo is scoring goals of the superhuman variety.
Ronaldo scored an instant classic against Juventus in the Champions League quarter-final first leg, executing a bicycle kick that was a paragon of athleticism, technique and self-confidence.
Ronaldo is one in a million (or, to borrow Ray Winstone’s line from The Departed: ten, ten million), so it’s probably not the best idea for everyday folk to try and replicate a goal in which the Portuguese forward literally hangs in the air, with his legs soaring towards the clouds.
But there’s always one.
Journalist Manuel Sanchez thought it was a good idea to give it a lash.
It did not, as you may have been able to guess, end well for the poor schmuck. Watch below.

Right, while you could argue that the ball thrown to him was a tad low, Sanchez’s attempt at emulating Ronaldo’s mastery of one of football’s most daring moves goes horribly awry.
First of all, the man’s not bloody dressed appropriately for the occasion. He’s in jeans, a shirt and a jacket. It’s hard to watch, as Sanchez fails spectacularly and badly twists his left ankle on landing.
An ambulance arrived on the scene to bring Sanchez to the hospital, where he very much looked like he regretted his attempt at being Ronaldo.
