WATCH: Pep Guardiola pushing and roaring at Nathan Redmond at full time

Apparently he was complimenting him

Manchester City extended their winning sequence with virtually the last kick of the game on Wednesday night.

Having been frustrated by Southampton’s defensive approach to the game, the scores were level at 1-1 as the game entered stoppage time.

Yet again, though, it was Raheem Sterling – just as it was at Huddersfield on Sunday – who made the telling contribution. With five added minutes of stoppage time seemingly up, the former Liverpool forward curled home a winner into Fraser Forster’s top corner.

Though a delighted Pep Guardiola was soon pictured celebrating the goal, his mood appeared to have changed temporarily after the full-time whistle.

Footage captured the City boss in what many interpreted to be an angry confrontation with Southampton’s Nathan Redmond.

Although most who have seen and shared the footage since it was posted on Twitter appeared to think Guardiola was angry at the Southampton winger, the City boss explained after the game that he had actually been complimenting the player.
