You don’t want to get on the wrong side of these men – either man.
Neil Lennon was last night involved in a furious touchline bust up with Morton boss Jim Duffy who asked him for a “square go” as Lennon’s Hibernian side earned a hard fought draw that takes them one step closer to Scottish Championship glory.
All hell broke loose at Easter Road after a reckless challenge by Morton player Kudos Oyenga in injury time was followed by Oyenga flinging himself to the ground after Hibs man Darren McGregor appeared to brush off his nose with one of the slightest head-butts of all time.
This sparked a touchline brawl that involved almost 20 people including players and officials from both sides.
Scenes that would invite comparisons to royal rumbles of WWE past ensued with Lennon and his counterpart Duffy in the thick of the action. The pair of managers had to be separated after continuing to taunt each other before they were both sent to the stands.
Speaking after the game, Lennon bemoaned,
“The guy tried to break his leg and then Darren McGregor goes over and he feigns a head-butt,” he said.
“The next thing I’ve got the Morton manager asking for a square go, which is fair enough. I’m not going to back down.
“Then I’ve got the assistant manager and the Morton players.
“He (Duffy) has come all the way from his technical area into mine. I haven’t done anything other than shout at his player. I have every right to do that and he would do the same thing.
“Not only has he tried to break my player’s leg, he’s got my captain sent off as well in an act of cowardice.”
Lennon is no stranger to a touchline bust up, just ask Ally McCoist about a particular Old Firm clash in 2011.
Morton manager Joe Duffy had his own say and he hadn’t exactly calmed down.
“There is no punches thrown, if a punch is thrown you’ll know about it,” he obviously fancies himself as a fighter as well as a manager.
“I’ve never been sent to the stand, so it’s my first time, but it’s good to lose your virginity eventually.”
Incredible scenes in Scotland all told.
